Jernigan Resigns as Head Tennis Coach to Take Assistant Coach Position At Clemson

Central, S.C. - Men's and women's tennis coach Darrell Jernigan has resigned to take an assistant women's tennis coach position at Clemson University.

Jernigan spent four seasons at Southern Wesleyan leading both of the Warriors tennis programs. In those four seasons, Jernigan has helped to build two successful men's and women's tennis teams and assisted in the construction of six USTA courts on campus.   Under his leadership, the women's tennis team advanced to the Conference Carolinas Semi-Finals during the 2016-17 season for the first time in school history after posting a 12-10 season record.

"I am so proud of what Coach Jernigan and the programs have accomplished these past four years," said Warriors Director of Athletics Chris Williams. "We are excited for Darrell and his reuniting with his former team at Clemson.  We are also thankful for his work in starting the tennis programs here at SWU!  We wish him well in his next venture of coaching."

Southern Wesleyan has already begun the national search for a new head men's and women's tennis coach.
