Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan fell to the University of Charleston Golden Eagles in a 21-4 final score on Thursday evening.
Southern Wesleyan made 10 shots in the loss to University of Charleston. Abigail Welch led the team with eight shots and six shots on goal. Welch went on to lead the team with three goals during the game. Welch and Madalynn Crawford had one ground balls each, and the Warriros recorded seven draw controls. Kaeleigh McDaniel played the whole game in goal for the Warriors. McDaniel recorded 18 saves on 39 shots on goal by the Golden Eagles.

How It Happened
Southern Wesleyan's defense started strong, defending the cage from several attacks by the University of Charleston team. However, a goal by Brianna Rock put the Golden Eagles up 1-0 with just over 22 minutes left to play. The Golden Eagles scored two more times before a goal by Abigail Welch allowed the Warriors come to 3-1. University of Charleston continued to pressure pushing their lead to 7-1. Abigail Welch was fouled to allow the Warriors to take a free position shot. Welch put the ball in the next to make the score 7-2. With the Warriors down 11-3, Taylor Hames made a free positon goal to put the Warriors within seven. The University of Charleston continued to put the pressure on Southern Wesleyan, and, despite several saves by Kaeleigh McDaniel, the Golden Eagles put up 10 more goals to win 21-4.
Southern Wesleyan will resume Conference Carolinas action on March 17 as they take on the Emmanuel College Lions at 7 p.m.
