Wilson, NC – Southern Wesleyan fell Monday afternoon to the Barton Bulldogs in a 22-4 final score.
Southern Wesleyan posted six shots and five shots on goal in the loss to Barton. Abigail Welch led the team with five shots and four shots on goal. All four of Welch's show on goal reached the net. Amari Cunningham had the lone assist of the afternoon. Southern Wesleyan had 11 draw controls during the game and 15 ground balls. Welch led the team with seven draw controls. Kaeleigh McDaniel led the team with six ground balls. McDaniel played the whole game in goal and made 11 saves.

How It Happened
Southern Wesleyan kicked off the game just seconds after the start with a goal by Abigail Welch. Barton took several shots, but Kaeleigh McDaniel defended the cage to keep the Bulldogs from pushing ahead. The Warriors lengthened their lead with twenty-two minutes. Amari Cunningham passed the ball to Welch who took it to the cage to put the Warriors up 2-0. The Bulldogs countered with back-to-back goals to tie the game and then take a 4-2 lead over Southern Wesleyan. Barton continued to push their lead ahead, however a goal by Welch allowed the Warriors to stay within four of the Bulldogs to make the score 7-3. Despite a fourth goal by Welch, the Bulldogs continued to push ahead and win the game 22-4.
Southern Wesleyan will return to Childs Field on March 28 as they take on the Belmont Abbey Crusaders at 5:30 p.m. They will then travel to North Greenville to take on the Crusaders on April 4.
