"Great win today for the women's team. It was a hard fought match and Belmont Abbey really gave us problems. We need to be better at closing matches which is just being mentally tough. There were several matches we were up big in and we let them come back. That can't happen in this conference."
How It Happened
Southern Wesleyan took two out of three in doubles action against the Belmont Abbey Crusaders on Saturday afternoon. Alexia Rodriguez and Cati Wintrich finished doubles action first, winning in an 8-4 final. Warriors' Jennifer Ball and Chyna Jones followed them, finishing with an 8-7(4) win over the Crusaders.
The Warriors and the Trojans split singles action, each taking three. Aimee Dorley, Cati Wintrich and Kristi Cooper each come out on top on their matches. Dorley took hers 7-5 and 6-2 and Wintrich won in a 6-2 and 6-2 final. Cooper fought hard in hers, taking the first 6-3 before forcing extras in her second set before winning in a 7-6(1) final.
The Warriors will next travel to Pfeiffer to take on the Falcons on April 2 before traveling to Erskine to take on the Flying Fleet on April 10.
