Sarasota, FL – Southern Wesleyan has one finish in highly competitive field during first collegiate level race of the season.

Coach Church says…

"This weekend was high level racing at its finest.  The future of the sport of Women's Triathlon was on display.  I am super proud of our team and the way they approached the weekend - continuing to learn skills, continuing to show improvement, and continuing to grow as a team and individuals.  We are looking forward to racing in less than 2 weeks in Sumter at the TriSumter Sprint Triathlon."

How It Happened

Southern Wesleyan's second triathlon race of the season was turned into a duathlon due to unsafe algae conditions in the water.  Anne-Marie Martin led Southern Wesleyan in the race on October 7.  Martin finished with an overall time of 1:19:08.  She concluded the first running segment of the race in 9:57, completed the three laps of biking in 40:21 and the final running portion in 27:13.  This gave her a 22nd place finish.  The Warriors final three athletes did not finish the biking portion of the race due to the lap-out rule being in effect.

What's Next

Southern Wesleyan will next travel to Sumter, South Carolina on October 21.  There they will compete in the TriSumter Sprint Triathlon.
