Historic Tysinger Gymnasium- Childs St. Central, SC 29630

Tysinger Gymnasium was named after Dr. J. Walden Tysinger, opened in the fall of 1969 and serves as the home court for Southern Wesleyan women's basketball, men's basketball and volleyball.

Dr. Tysinger served Central Wesleyan College from 1961-1971 as the Director of Relations and Public Development. Funds raised by Dr. Tysinger, along with other sources of funding, aided in the construction. The first intercollegiate basketball game was played in November 1970 against Toccoa Falls as the Warriors won while wearing uniforms from a local high school.

Seating capacity ranges from 480 to 520 depending on the set-up of the court, allowing for a very exciting and loud homecourt advantage. An addition to the east side of "Historic Tysinger"was built in 2000 and houses athletic offices, classrooms, cardio/strength training room and athletic training services.  Further renovations in the past few years have added two additional locker rooms and four offices.
