"Extremely proud of our team! We battled all night and stayed together as a team. Hopefully this can be something we can build on moving forward."

How It Happened

Lander scored first in the contest with a free throw, but the Warriors quickly responded with a 3-pointer from Ta'Jay Dunlap to take a 3-1 lead. The Bearcats increased their lead as Southern Wesleyan chased right behind them. A 3-pointer from Cameron Holmes tied it at 13-13 and allowed the Warriors to gain some momentum and take a 16-15 lead edging the halfway mark of the first half. TJ Harvin and Tranard Ferrell pushed the Warriors lead further at 21-15. The Bearcats slowly chipped away at Southern Wesleyan's lead, but Harvin's 3-pointer kept them ahead at 26-22. A 3-pointer from Ryan Jolly would tie it at 28-28 before Lander could run with the momentum as the Bearcats led 41-34 at the half.

Out of half-time, Jalen Lowery sunk a 3-pointer to bring the Warriors within four. Southern Wesleyan played catch-up throughout a majority of the second half, remaining right behind the Bearcats and eventually leading at 50-49 after a layup from Lowery. Each lead that Lander would take would result in a Warrior basket to keep them right behind them and tying it at 53-53 with a free throw from Clenzo Ross and again at 55-55 with another basket from Lowery. The Bearcats would hold a seven point lead with six minutes remaining, but a shift in momentum would bring the Warriors back and tied at 83-83 after a pair of free throws from Dunlap. With twenty seconds remaining, the Warriors led 85-83. A foul would give Lander the opportunity to pick up two extra points and they did. With eight seconds left, Ross charged the goal missing the first layup and rebounding to tip it in at the buzzer. This basket would allow the Warriors to win 87-85.
