Franklin Springs, GA – Southern Wesleyan fell to the Emmanuel College Lions in a 2-1 final on Wednesday night.
The Warriors recorded 12 shots and eight shots on goal in the loss to the Lions. Oscar Vanegas led the team with three shots on goal. Malik Ibrahim had the lone goal for the Warriors with an assist by Miguel Gallegos. Miguel Uribe played the whole game in goal for the Warriors and recorded eight save.

How It Happened
Southern Wesleyan struck early in the game as Miguel Gallegos passed the ball to Malik Ibrahim at the bottom left corner. Ibrahim shot the ball into the net to put the Warriors up 1-0 over the Lions. Southern Wesleyan looked to increase their lead on a header shot by Romanov Jean, but goalkeeper Andy Dunnett kept the Warriors from pulling further ahead. The Lions countered on a penalty kick goal by Danny McKerchar to tie the game at one. The Lions went on to take a 2-1 lead on a second goal by McKerchar. The Warriors continued to challenge with shots on goal by Miguel Gallegos, Oscar Vanegas and Grant Kiker. However, Southern Wesleyan could not pull ahead as Emmanuel went on to win 2-1.
Southern Wesleyan will return home on October 6 as they host the Limestone Saints at 5:30 p.m. They will then travel to King on October 17 at 1 p.m.
